White urad dal is a whole dal without husk. The skin is removed in the milling process and white whole dal is supplied. As the husk is removed, this dal can be easily cooked. The mild flavour dal can be made flavourful by adding any tadka to it. Punjabis in India prefer onion tomato tadka for this dal, while South Indians prefer to season the boiled dal with mustard seeds and oil tadka. Punjabis make dal and serve it with Missi roti or naan. And South Indians boil dal and make a paste for making Idli, Vada, Dosa and other South Indian dishes. One can prepare white urad dal with different varieties of tadka, such as onion tadka, cumin tadka and hot chilli tadka.
