Moong dal is a split type of green gram, which is also available as whole moong beans. This type of pulses is used in Indian households every other day. When used in dessert, the skin of the moong dal is removed, so that only yellow part is left which has mild sweet flavour. There are different recipes that require the use of moong dal.
